About

The word velo means “bicycle” in French, and asana is a Sanskrit word that comes from the world of yoga and roughly translated, means “posture” or “pose.” So one could say that velo asana is the “cycling pose.”

Yeah, I’m mixing languages, and I’m also mixing subject matter, on purpose. I think the practice and philosophy of yoga fits in perfectly with cycling endeavors. (Actually, it fits perfectly with all aspects of life.)

In this blog, you’ll find stories about cycling from current and past rides, and how cycling fits in with my understanding of the practice of yoga.

I hope you’ll join me in my journey.

The author of this blog, Bryan Flamig, is an avid cyclist who lives in the Phoenix area. Among his other hobbies and recreational activities are practicing yoga, playing old-time fiddle for contra dances, and photography. He’s an independent software developer, and holds degrees in computer science and mechanical engineering.

Disclaimer: Bryan does not claim to be an expert at either cycling or yoga, or anything for that matter. So take what you read in these pages at face value. It’s his view on these subjects. And just in case you don’t figure it out, the posts here are meant to be read light-heartedly, for that’s the spirit in which they are written.
